24th October 2020 10am to 4pm
With the COVID-19 situation ongoing, and still with so much uncertainty, it is a sad but inevitable announcement we have to make.
The Porlock Apple Press & Rural Crafts Festival
will not take place in its usual form, on Saturday 24th October
, this year.
After much deliberation, The group members feel that we cannot practically put in place the measures to ensure that the event is COVID-SECURE, per the official guidance. The ‘Rural Crafts’ part of the festival will not therefore take place this year.
WE WILL however, be conducting apple pressings using our 1800’s press, and vintage equipment in the Old School Centre Orchard Garden. Visitors will be able to observe the process at an appropriate social-distance, listen to the explanation of it, and why apple growing was once an important element of the rural economy in Porlock and the surrounding Vale. Fresh juice will be available to taste and take away in both its raw state (treat as fresh milk), or in long lasting pasteurised bottles. We ask that visitors strictly observe COVID-19 rules, for everyone’s safety.
The best bit….. IT’S FREE!
On-site loos, and parking is only 150yds away.
