Hartshanger is set just above the village of Porlock in the heart of the Exmoor National Park in the middle of about 5 acres with wonderful views over Porlock Bay and the Bristol Channel towards Wales. The grounds include a tennis court for guest use.

The top floor of the main house and the coach house have been converted into beautiful self-catering accommodation – High Hangar which sleeps 4 and Little Hanger which sleeps 6. Beams, sloping ceilings and patchwork quilts in the bedrooms are key features.

High Hanger is a second floor flat with its own private entrance of stone steps leading up to the entrance door at first floor level. A further flight of interior stairs takes you up to the accommodation on the second floor. The apartment offers one double with king size bed and one twin bedroom, plus separate bathroom. Balcony and ladder to flat roof with sun loungers. Laundry room with washing machine and tumble drier, storage space for bicycles in old tack room. Open April to October inclusive, no pets.

Little Hanger is a first floor flat in the original coach house/stable block and is reached by its own flight of stone steps up to a stable door. The apartment has three bedrooms, one en suite with a king sized bed and one with a Juliet balcony. The main bathroom has a walk-in shower. The sitting room has patio doors to a secluded terrace and a log burner with free wood. Open all year round. One dog (or two small) welcome by arrangement, £20 charge.

This is a peaceful place, with the only sounds being that of the surf on the beach below and the occasional call from a seagull, buzzard, cow or sheep. It is the ideal place for those wanting to get away from it all and relax or walk our beautiful Exmoor countryside.
