Annual Open Day at St Dubricius Church
Annual Open Day at St Dubricius Church, Porlock
Saturday 19th October 11am – 5pm
Free entry and refreshments
Local musicians, singers, historians and writers are joining forces with regular members and clergy of St Dubricius Church in Porlock to put on an Open Day to remember. The 13th Century church throws open its doors on Saturday 19th October to reveal a day packed with history and entertainment. Guest speakers reveal fascinating facts related to medicine throughout the life of the church (Dr Ian Kelham, Retired GP), faith (Tony Pinnington, Exmoor Writer) and the architecture of the church itself.
Plus, as we approach the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, Jeff Cox, writer and historian, uses the Memorial Window to tell the stories of some of the brave men from Porlock who gave their lives in the two World Wars.
Visitors will also have the chance to have a go at bell-ringing or Singalong at Tea-time with the very talented Friends in Harmony. The Church Teddies are making an appearance too for younger visitors! You will find full details of the day’s programme on the church railings. All are welcome.
