A cold and wet day did not deter the local residents and community members from coming to Abbeyfield The Laurels in Porlock to enjoy a very special Valentine’s Day afternoon tea.
The event was organised by Porlock Information Centre and saw beautifully decorated cakes with a Valentine’s day theme, red flowers, handmade red clay hearts, red balloons and a very warm welcome.
Over thirty members of the community joined together, made new friends and caught up with old friends over tea and cake.
There was cause for celebration too, as our Reverend Anne Gibbs celebrated her birthday with guests, cutting a mini birthday cake.
The centre plans to arrange a summer event with Abbeyfield as these community gatherings are proving very popular and are vital to bring community members together.
Thank you to Sue and the staff at Abbeyfield for their hospitality and for enabling the afternoon to be a great success.
Porlock Vale CIC is grateful to Somerset Community Foundation who helped fund the community afternoon with a grant from The Somerset Fund.
