If you’re doing some litter picking either by yourself or with a friend or family, there are now “two-minute litter pick” boards in Porlock where you can borrow litter pickers and bags, and return them afterwards.

They are located at Porlock Visitor Centre, Old School Centre, West End TA24 8QD and Porlock Weir Hotel, Porlock Weir TA24 8PB

Before starting, always think about what hazards you might encounter and wear walking boots and gloves (e.g. gardening gloves) and always wash your hands thoroughly afterwards.

Think about the weather conditions, the tide, stony slopes and sharp objects such as fishing hooks hidden in fishing line and seaweed. If litter picking near roads, be aware of any traffic.

When disposing of your litter, please recycle what you can – there are waste bins along Porlock High Street including bins for recycling cans and plastic bottles. There is also the Minehead Recycling Centre which takes all types of recyclable material in Mart Road, Minehead.
