Porlock celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style when the whole community came together with four days of action-packed entertainment and wonderful things to see and do.

The celebrations started at Dovery Manor Museum with a very regal procession with our own “Queen” being chauffeur driven and her subjects royally following through the village.

The Town Crier gave a wonderful cry, under the wonderful creative Jubilee floral arch at St Dubricius Church. A full afternoon of fun and entertainment followed at Porlock Recreation Ground, including Jubilee Olympics, Punch and Judy, West Somerset Morris Dancers, an
opportunity to make your own crown and cream teas being served all afternoon.

All the children in the village received a special commemorative, locally hand-crafted gift and families also took part in a Jubilee Logo trail around the Village. The evening saw the lighting of the Beacon on the recreation ground, following a lovely performance by Friends in Harmony.

The following three days saw wonderful performances at Porlock Methodist Church with music by Geoffrey Perkins, live music at The Top Ship and a performance of Whispering Willows in Porlock Village Hall, a community Jubilee lunch in Porlock Village Hall and a concert by friends in Harmony at St Dubricius Church. On Sunday, the community came together again to celebrate with street parties being held through the village.

This was an amazing four days where so many community groups and individuals worked tirelessly to arrange the full programme of events for the residents and visitors to come together and enjoy this very special occasion.
