Porlock Visitor Centre celebrated the new Somerset and Exmoor Coast Festival with an evening of shanty songs at Porlock Village Hall on Saturday 30th September.
It was a perfect opportunity to invite The Rogues, a newly formed local shanty band to entertain us all with their fabulous music. The Rogues are a band with a difference with men, women and children who are all passionate about performing and singing.
Showgoers were treated to many traditional rousing shanty songs as well as some more melodic and evocative tunes. The youngsters were to be commended for their talent and enthusiasm.
The visitor centre thanks The Top Ship for providing the bar and refreshments for the evening.
We are very grateful to the Somerset and Exmoor Coast Project for financial assistance for this event, which enabled us to keep the ticket price affordable for families.
